Getting Rid of Painted Wallpaper
Getting painted wallpaper off the walls can be a difficult job which requires a lot of time, hard work, and patience. So, the first thing you must decide is whether you would like to remove the paint first then the wallpaper, or if you would want to remove both of them at the same time. If you choose to remove the paint first, it can take more time but it will be less messy. Meanwhile, removing both the wallpaper and paint can get paint flakes all over the room, so think twice before you decide to choose this option.
You can start the job by scraping off the paint on the wallpaper. You can get a paint scraper for this, or you can use sandpaper as well. If you intend to remove the paint and wallpaper together, then make sure to score the wall first with a razor so that the removal solution would be able to sink in after you have applied it. Next, soften the paint and wallpaper with the application of a removal solution using a spray bottle or a paint roller. For your removal solution, you can either buy a commercial product or you can make your own using warm water and vinegar.
Once you start to scrape off the wallpaper, be sure to place a protective covering on your flooring since the pieces can fall just anywhere. Should there be any pieces of wallpaper left stuck on the walls, let them soak for a longer period before trying to remove them again. If that still does not work, then you can try steaming them off.
